Berthoud Pass, CO

turning point

Fritz and I ventured up to Berthoud pass on a hunch Sunday hoping to find some fresh snow. January has been a little hit or miss compared to December’s snow accumulations in the front range. We figured a day in the backcountry would be refreshing whether there was a lot of new snow or not. As we drove towards the pass we broke through the clouds to see the sun rise and a perfect blue-sky day begin. Its a rare treat to have a sunny, windless, 5 degree, 5 inch, day in Colorado. I know what your thinking…5 inches isn’t much. But the combination of weather, good friends, and skiing couldn’t be beat!

Here are some photos from the day.
